Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes each hair from the hair follicle.
The hair all over our body grows in four stages. The first stage is the Anagen Phase, during which the hair is actively growing. The second stage of the hair cycle is the Catagen Phase, the hair growth starts to slow and the hair follicle starts to shrink. The Telogen Phase is the third stage where the hair stops growing and becomes dormant. The last stage is when the hair sheds, known as the Exogen Phase. The hair growth cycle then repeats, slowing down as we age.
Waxing is the most effective when you remove the hair during its Anagen Phase. When you remove a hair during this stage it causes damage and stress to the papilla, which is where the nutrients for the hair is supplied. Damage to the papilla will prevent future hair growth.
Over time, if you are consistent with you waxing appointments, your hair will start to grow in the same stage leaving you hairless for a longer period of time.
Not everyone is a good candidate for waxing due to medications, allergies, or health complications. Refer to the Medication Contraindications.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds 24-28 hours after your wax.
Avoid shaving in between waxes.
Avoid pools, saunas, hot tubs, hot baths, and lakes for 24-48 hours after your wax.

Some medications such as acne medication, blood thinners, and antibiotics make your skin unsuitable for waxing. Withholding medication information ultimately eliminates your Esthetician's ability to provide a safe waxing service. Legal and professional consequences for the client and Esthetician may occur if invalid medical details are not listed in your consultation form. Safety is number one priority at Pro Beauty Collective. It is important to consult your doctor if you are unsure that waxing on your current medication(s) is safe.
