Lash Extensions

Lash Extensions are made from synthetic "mink" or "silk" or a material called Polybutylene Terephthalate or for short, PBT. This material is a synthetic fiber that is soft, durable, and can be made to mimic the appearance of natural lashes.

Typically lash extensions are classified into four groups: Classic, Hybrid, Volume, and Mega Volume. Each group is characterized by the density and amount of artificial lashes that are being applied to each natural lash. Each artificial lash is individually sized, curled, and applied making every set of lash extensions unique and customizable. Popular styles of lash extensions include cat-eye, kitten eye, open eye, and doll eye.

A "Full Set" of lash extensions is the initial application appointment and can take between two and three hours to complete. "Fill-In" appointments are recommended every 2-3 weeks and can range from forty five minutes to an hour and a half. The amount of weeks between "Fill-Ins" can be dependent on lifestyle, how fast your natural lashes grow, and how you take care of them at home. The importance of a "Fill-In" is to remove outgrown artificial lashes and apply new ones onto any natural lashes that have grown in since your previous appointment.

It used to be believed that you cannot get your newly applied lash extensions wet for 24 hours to allow for the adhesive to completely cure. Well I'm here to tell you, at Pro Beauty Collective we utilize adhesive that has been studied for over 2 years and has been very wonderfully crafted to cure after 4 minutes of application! Washing your lash extensions with a shampoo specially formulated for lash extensions is extremely important to keep your lash line free of dead skin, oil, pollen, and dirt. An accumulation of those things can put you at risk of a Demodex infestation, commonly known as lash mites. Washing your lash extensions after swimming, working out, removing makeup, and even after a good cry session will set you up for long lasting retention.

There are 8 simple, easy to follow aftercare instructions while caring for your lash extensions:

1. Wash your lash extensions a few times a week with lash shampoo & cool water. Hot water can soften the fibers and relax the curl of your extensions. Let them air-dry and brush them through.

2. Avoid oil and oil-based products around your eyes. Oil and lash extension adhesive are not compatible. The oil will loosen the bond of the adhesive and cause the artificial lashes to slip off the natural lash.

3. Brush through your lash extensions daily using a clean mascara wand or spoolie.

4. Do not pick, pull, or twist the lash extensions with your fingers. This puts you at risk of permanent natural lash damage by pulling out your natural lash causing harm to the hair follicle.

5. Do not curl your artificial lashes with a lash curler. Artificial lashes come pre-curled in a hardened form. If you use a lash curler, you will snap the lash extensions in half or bend them in an irreversible way.

6. Do not apply mascara on top of the lash extensions. Many mascaras contain oil, refer back to rule number 2, and can be difficult to remove and clean without damaging the extensions and your natural lashes. But you can wear it on your bottom lashes!

7. Avoiding any makeup on or near your lash line is ideal for long lasting retention but if you do wear makeup around your lash line, removing it with an oil-free makeup remover and a qtip allows for close removal without causing damage to the artificial lash or natural lash. Then always wash with the lash shampoo after.

8. Schedule regular "Fill-In's for the best life of your lash extensions and natural lashes. If you got lash extensions for a special event and do not plan to maintain them, it's highly recommended to schedule a "Removal" 3-4 weeks after your full set to maintain healthy natural lashes.

Lash Lift & Tint

If low maintenence and beautiful lashes had a baby it would be a Lash Lift & Tint.

This beauty treatment enhances your natural lashes by lifting and curling them, with a solution similar to a hair perm, and darkened with a black tint that can make your natural lashes appear longer and thicker.

Curling your lashes with a traditional lash curler leaves you with a blunt, harsh line that makes your eyelashes look like the letter "L". A lash lift creates a graceful, upwards curl giving a look similar to a very natural lash extension set.  More commonly than not, even after curling your natural lashes with a traditional lash curler, natural lashes will fall and not hold onto the curl by the end of the day and it looks like you didn't curl them in the first place. This treatment is semi-permanent, lasting up to 8-10 weeks. Yeah, that long.

The initial 24-48 hours after your lash lift and tint are crucial for the best results. Your natural lashes are still setting when you leave the salon and are easily manipulated within those first crucial hours.

The First 24-48 Hours:

1. Do not apply make-up or receive any other treatments for at least 24 hours after your lash lift & tint. This ensures your lashes set correctly for the best results.

2. Avoid rubbing your eyes. You're lashes are easily manipulated.

3. Sleep on your back to avoid your lashes turning inwards from sleeping on your side.

4. Avoid putting contact lenses back in for the rest of the day.

5. Keep your lashes dry for at least 24 hours. Water can interfere with the reforming and curling of your lashes, causing the lift to not hold.

After 48 Hours:

1. Use a lash conditioner every day. You can use 100% Natural Castor Oil or purchase specialized products designed to ensure long lasting, healthy results from your Esthetician. Lash lifting is a chemical process, similar to a hair perm or bleaching. It's important to keep your lashes moisturized and conditioned to ensure the lashes maintain the nutrients and hydration within the hair follicle.

2. Comb your lashes upward using a mascara wand.

3. Book another Lash Lift & Tint for 8-10 weeks.

Thats. It. Everything else about your normal routine stays the same.
